Case
Successful Post-Merger Integration for large Danish wholesaler
A leading Danish wholesaler serving the construction industry faced obstacles in integrating acquisitions effectively. Following a strategic acquisition, the company encountered complex challenges related to merging sales systems, customer bases, employee structures, product lines, and operational processes.
The situation
Previous attempts at managing such integrations internally had resulted in suboptimal outcomes, highlighting the need for external expertise. Recognizing the limitations of their internal capabilities, the wholesaler sought assistance from CoreConsult to orchestrate a PMI process. CoreConsult was tasked with not only driving the integration efforts but also ensuring a successful transition across all facets of the acquired business.
The solution
CoreConsult executed a 10-month PMI process, meticulously structured to deliver results. The process was divided into two distinct phases:
In phase 1 CoreConsult focused on establishing the post-merger integration process, creating an integrated masterplan, and onboarding key integration track leaders.
Phase 2 involved executing the plan, ensuring alignment, managing integration tracks to achieve soft launch and online milestones, and supporting commercial integration tracks to achieve hard launch objectives.
The impact
The result of the post-merger integration process was a fully integrated division and no FTE loss as an effect of the integration.
A complete product segment of 50.000 SKUs was added, as well as two retail product ranges that were deployed in 12 stores.
A full go-to-market strategy was developed, including a full mapping of strategic positioning and sales ambition by leveraging existing sales channels and customers.
All workstreams and milestones were delivered on time including internal training, ERP migration, legal merger, etc.
